Taos is New Mexico True
Artist painting in his studio/gallery

From the rock art on our canyon walls to the pottery of the Pueblo people, from the Taos Society of Artists to the artists and visionaries working today, Taos has long inspired people to pick up carving instruments, brushes, or whatever tool helps them to express their imagination and their appreciation for living in this magnificent place. The art of Taos, in whatever medium, is more than a little unique, infused with the light, the land, and the culture of Taos.

Today, Taos hosts more than 70 art galleries, from the traditional to the cutting edge. Featuring the work of local artists and craftspeople from many cultures and backgrounds, visitors can explore the range of Taos art galleries, taking in everything from painting and photography to sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, glass, and much more. You can also easily find an artistic remembrance of Taos—large or small—to take home. No keepsake is more meaningful than one acquired from the hands that made it.

An art colony like no other, Taos has been home to artists as long as there have been creatives, and that spirit lives on today in the wondrous variety of artistic innovation on display in our art galleries.
