taos visionaries
Visionaries. Taos has an abundance. This is evident in a major exhibition, Mabel Dodge Luhan & Company: American Moderns and the West, which opened at the Harwood Museum of Art in Taos on May 21, 2016. It follows the life of an author, art patron and “social engineer” who truly changed the face of Taos after she arrived in 1917. Mabel helped put Taos “on the map” by hosting luminaries like Georgia O’Keeffe, Ansel Adams, Martha Graham, and Leopold Stokowski, who in turn contributed to the growth of the creative arts in Taos.
Visit the Mabel and Company exhibition, then partake of numerous exhibitions and events happening throughout Taos honoring other visionaries – from D.H. Lawrence to Millicent Rogers to Agnes Martin to Michael Reynolds – who have made Taos what it is today. Many have transformed the art, architecture, literature, and musical landscape not only of Taos, but of America.
Past and Present
