“Putting people and rivers together since 1976”

Far Flung Adventures has been safely outfitting family and group river trips for over 40 years. We have run commercial adventures on dozens of rivers around the country and the world. With that said, these days we like to concentrate our work here in New Mexico, because this is the land and the people we care most about.

We only hire the best, most experienced and knowledgeable guides, who are all trained to the highest industry standards to make sure your trip is as safe as possible; and our devoted office and full-time kitchen staff will guarantee that every step of the process goes smoothly and that the food is fresh and tastes great.

Aside from a fun and safe trip every one of our full-day adventures will include a deli-style lunch with homemade dips and salads, house seasoned and roasted meats, deserts, and much more. All half-day trips include a riverside snack and Maria’s famous homemade salsa!

  • The Rio Grande Racecourse, gear up and get ready for New Mexico’s favorite half-day Class III whitewater adventure. This exciting 3-hour tour is our most popular half-day trip, and is perfectly suited to families, groups, first-timers, and those of all ages and abilities!
  • The Taos Box is the centerpiece of one of our countries first Wild and Scenic River designations and a premier Class-IV whitewater rafting run. This is the most popular full-day trip in the area, and for good reason.
  • The Middle Box is for those who are looking for a real wilderness trip. This full-day adventure takes you into the heart of the Wild Rivers section of the Rio Grande to some of the most untouched and least visited parts of the river. This trip involves a 1-mile downhill hike into the canyon, as the starting point for this portion of the river is not accessible by road.
  • The Scenic Half-day is perfect for those who are looking for a relaxing trip, or for those with young children. The calm waters through the Orilla Verde National Recreation Area are great for either of those. The open canyon allows scenic views of basalt cliffs, high desert, lush banks, and fantastic birding and wildlife viewing opportunities.

Take a chance and come unplug for a day! If these don’t seem to be what you are looking for, visit our website to read more about multi-day trips, other rivers, horseback riding, rock climbing, biking, and paddleboarding.
