The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation is one of the oldest artist residence programs in the country. The Foundation keeps a low-profile and serves as a haven for painters, poets, sculptors, writers, playwrights, composers, photographers and film.

Courses on creativity, field trips to Canyon de Chellly and the Four Corners area for plein air painting and photography, equine sculpture, even the Artist in the Kitchen featuring an appreciation of Frida Kahlo and Georgia O’Keeffe.

With a rich foundation in traditional impressionism, this personable, internationally recognized artist schedules workshops and private classes throughout the year.

These literary evenings invite writers to read from their recent work, pairing up-and-coming writers with nationally and internationally recognized authors. The eight-week programs take place January/February and July/August of every year.

A block from Taos Plaza and steps to the Kit Carson Home & Museum, this locally owned B&B in several adobe buildings is 2.8 miles from Taos Pueblo.
