CROSS COUNTRY & SNOWSHOEING
Top on the list of places to slide, glide and step is Enchanted Forest Cross-country Ski Area. Angel Fire Resort sports a sweet Nordic Center with 11.5km of terrain distributed across 3 trails. Locals head to Brazos to play in the powder, about 80 miles west of Taos in the Chama Valley Region. Closer to town, try the West Rim Trail that starts in the parking lot of the Rio Grande Gorge Visitor Center in Taos.

Winter is one of the most beautiful seasons in New Mexico. We invite you to enjoy the outdoors, strap on some lightweight aluminum shoes and hit the scenic trails of the Taos snowcountry.
SNOWMOBILING AND SLEIGH RIDES
Taos ski areas offer exhilarating snowmobile tours with expert guides. Cruise the peaks and ridges and take in the views safely on quality snowmachines. Nothing short of spectacular. Soak up the winter landscapes wrapped in a blanket, surrounded by white and the sound of sleigh bells. In winter months, Angel Fire–based Roadrunner Tours offers four cozy excursions daily, winding through the spruce- and aspen-filled Carson National Forest.
NANCY BURCH SLEIGH RIDES - ANGEL FIRE
When the weather turns to snow, the sleighs come out with the big Percheron horses and you can glide effortlessly across the landscape to a cozy mountain campsite. Sip some piping hot chocolate or coffee, grab a snack and enjoy a fun ride.
BIG AL SNOWMOBILE TOURS
Taos Ski Valley has a little known secret, the very same trails used for world class hiking & horseback riding, make for some of the best snowmobile rides available anywhere! Big Al will take you places on a snowmobile that are breathtaking
TUBING AND ICE SKATING
Expect a few bumps and a lot of laughs when you grab a tube or sled and take to of one Taos ski area or public area hills. The perfect way to mix it up and keep the family fun going, there’s tubing by day and by night.
TUBING IN TAOS SKI VALLEY
Multiple lanes promise a fast, fun descent for all ages. Once open for the season, tube rides are available from 2pm-6pm, Thursday through Sunday. Schedule is enhanced during peak periods and holidays.
ICE SKATING IN TAOS
If it’s ice you’re looking for, head to the Taos Youth and Family Center for indoor public skating or hockey. Open to the general public and for just a few dollars ($3 Adults, $2 Children), and the kids can get in some recreational blading.
