After an invigorating day on the slopes or a thorough workout on the trails or with your credit card, nothing beats a bit of unwinding at one of Taos’ many lively nightspots. Choose your passion – cool jazz, folk, foot-tapping country or Texas Two-Step, we have them all. And many are within walking distance of your hotel, some just down the hall! We’ve tagged these suggestions with “LM” (live music) and “D” (dancing).

Adobe Bar at the Historic Taos Inn (LM)
Called by the New York Times “the ‘it’ place in Taos”, favored by locals and visitors alike, The Adobe Bar is the place to mingle. With local color and atmosphere drawn from the tri-cultural, historic, and artistic traditions of this unique community, The Adobe Bar provides its patrons with live musical entertainment every night of the week – and never a cover charge. 11 am- 10 pm M-Sat; Sun, 12 pm – 10 pm.

Alley Cantina (LM,D)
Located off the northwest corner of the plaza in the heart of historic Taos in what is probably the oldest building in town (think ghosts, people!), the Alley has a rich history dating back over 400 years. A lively, social place for both visitors and Taoseños complete with hand-crafted bar food, lots of appetizers for any time of day and live entertainment every night of the week. 11:30 am – 1 am daily.

Anaconda Bar at El Monte Sagrado (LM)
Named for a giant anaconda sculpture that snakes its way across the ceiling, the Anaconda Bar™ is a ananconda-bar-lively and casual gathering place. Socialize over a signature cocktail or a bottle of wine from their extensive selection. Dining is also available from the restaurant menu. Live entertainment is provided Friday and Saturday evenings weekly beginning at 9:00pm.

Eske’s Brew Pub (M)
Located in the historic dstrict of Taos, one-half block southeast of Taos Plaza this nearly 100 year old, flat-roofed adobe home offers a cozy atmosphere and beautiful outdoor seating. Live entertainment, quality food from traditional pub fare to daily specials, handcrafted beer and local color make Eske’s a place to go alone, with friends, or with the entire family. Summer Hours: noon – 10 pm; Winter Hours: noon – 9 pm.

KTAOS Station Bar (LM,D)
This is the place to meet friends for happy hour, enjoy a variety of live music acts, dig into authentic tacos, and mingle with a hip and vibrant crowd. The indoor lounge area and solar-powered radio stations are matched only by the huge rolling lawn with spectacular views of the sacred Taos Mountain (KTAOS Solar Center borders Taos Pueblo lands). Open for happy hour from 4-6pm daily; regular hours are 4-9pm Sunday through Thursday; 4-11pm Friday and Saturday.

Old Martina’s Hall (LM,D)
This historic building once comprised the western side of the San Francisco de Asis Plaza. It has been lovingly and carefully restored to its former glory, this time including a critically-acclaimed French/New Mexican restaurant as well as the dance hall. Evening start times on live events vary (check the Live Events Calendar for details); cover charges apply and most conclude at 1 am.

The Sagebrush Cantina
at the Sagebrush Inn (LM,D)
Taos’ most famous venue for live music and dance, the Cantina delivers the ambiance of an old-time western bar with one critical difference – there’s a world-class art collection of vintage Taos Masters’ work hanging on the walls! Live entertainment with dancing begins at 8:30 to 11:30pm; check the schedule for current offerings.

Located about three blocks north of Taos Plaza, this brew pub offers an ever-expanding selection of delectable eats, small-batch handcrafted recipes and live entertainment on an occasional basis. These free summer concerts in the historic center of town are presented every Thursday on Taos Plaza from 6 – 8 p.m. by Taos County Chamber of Commerce. Pre-shows begin at 5:30 p.m.


Martini Tree Bar, Taos Ski Valley (LM, D)
Home to many of the Taos Ski Valley’s Winter Promotion Series, this large venue is also host to many regional and local performers, most on Saturday evenings beginning about 8 pm until closing. Special performances are also booked around winter holidays such as New Year’s Eve and President’s Day Weekend.

Midtown Lounge (LM,D)
This newly refurbished venue has a fresh new look and a fresh new sound! Located in Arroyo Hondo about 20 minutes north of the Plaza, it attracts regional artists and a variety of performance styles. Open 7 nights a week, performances typically begin at 8:30 or 9:00 pm to closing.

The Rathskeller Bar at the Hotel St. Bernard, Taos Ski Valley (LM,D)
The Rathskeller is a genuine German experience, a local favorite and open to all. In addition to one of the finest wine cellars in the Southwest, guests here enjoy a full bar, fun and friendly staff, and live music ranging from jazz to pop and folk for listening and some fun dancing! Open 5 pm to closing nightly during ski season.

Sabroso Lounge at Sabroso Restaurant (LM)
Housed in a historic 150-year-old adobe in the tiny village of Arroyo Seco this award-winning restaurant also offers an extensive and attractively-priced bistro menu served in the cozy living room-style bar. Live entertainment is featured on Wednesdays and Sundays; the bar is open from 4:30 to closing nightly.

Taos Mesa Brewing Company (LM,D)
Featuring six to nine distinct beers on draught at all times (five staple products and three or four seasonal or specialty beers in rotation) plus 15 other regional craft beers in their authentic Tap Room. Taos Mesa Brewing Company also brings New Mexico a first class music venue – an indoor stage plus two outdoor stages – an amphitheatre for large shows and a smaller, more intimate stage by the patio that overlooks the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Live entertainment most nights of the week, some with cover charges. Open 7-days a week, with most performances beginning at either 7 or 8 pm.

Many musicians call Taos home and its energetic bars, wineries, and brew pubs bring in top notch artists and crowds from around the region. Come for a festival or just enjoy the nightly music scene.

El Monte Sagrado Resort & Spa

A vaulted dining space off the lobby boasted a five-star culinary experience, but the space that really got people talking was the bar.

This Ain’t No Disco

Taos Mesa Brewing’s original location (dubbed the “Mother Ship” by its owners), is housed in an old, converted airplane hangar, four miles east of the bridge on 64., and has been one of the hippest hangouts in Taos since opening in 2012.
