9th Annual Dog Days of Summer Concert to Benefit Stray Hearts

Back for its 9th year, the beloved Dog Days of Summer Concert will feature top-notch talent and will benefit Stray Hearts Animal Shelter in Taos—an organization dedicated to ensuring a life free of suffering and pain for animals through education, spaying and neutering, and sheltering animals needing a home. The concert will take place on the KTAOS Solar Center Pavilion (rain or shine) on Saturday, August 11th.

The event has continually grown to be a favorite of locals and visitors alike. In its first year, the Dog Days concert raised $4,400 for Stray Hearts. To date, Dog Days has raised over $140,000 for Stray Hearts.

“From its inception, the annual Dog Days concert has brought together the people of Taos with a shared love of music and animals,” said Mattress Mary Domito, founder of Dog Days. “This is truly a community event, and we’re grateful for the continued support from the community of Taos. It’s an honor to be planning our ninth year, and this year’s concert will once again be an amazing event with talented musicians.”

Doors will open at 4pm, and the concert will take place from 5:30–10pm. Beginning at 5:30pm will be opener Jeff Bryant, an Austin-based versatile musician who has performed as a keyboardist, pedal steel player and vocalist alongside Alpha Rev, Cory Morrow and Hudson Moore. Following Jeff’s performance, headlining will be The Secret Sisters at 7:30pm.The Secret Sisters will bring their incredible Americana sound to the stage, having toured with Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Paul Simon and having had their music produced by Brandi Carlile.

“We invite all to come out and enjoy a great show, especially as this will be the only New Mexico show performed by The Secret Sisters on their tour, and they will go on the next night to open for Brandi Carlile at Red Rocks,” added Domito.

In addition to great music, the event will also feature the famous Dog Days silent auction, food and a full bar, and a raffle to win a Beautyrest Black luxury mattress or a $2000 gift certificate to Taos Lifestyle. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets are on sale at
