Opera and Chorus
Open your heart to the arias! The magnificent landscapes and sweet energies of Taos are the perfect backdrop for legends of the stage and legends in the making. At almost any time of the year, an operatic or choral performance will add a rich patina to your Taos experience.
Taos Opera Institute
The institute was established in 2007 by Mary Jane Johnson and Linda Poetschke as a bridge between academia and apprenticeships for the emerging vocal artist. The four week program in Taos Ski Valley focuses on all the competition and interpersonal skills required of the operatic performer, as well as a broad range of physical activities and life coaching sessions. As part of this training, live audience performances are a critical component in honing vocal and presentation skills. Each year, Taos reaps the benefit through a series of concerts throughout the month of June. These are held in a variety of interesting locations throughout Taos Ski Valley and the Taos area; most performances begin at 7PM.
