Taos is a family town. You can find kids of all ages running around chasing balls, dogs and each other in one of our well-maintained public parks. In the center of town, there’s Kit Carson Park which offers multi-purpose courts for tennis and basketball, a sand pits and nets for volleyball, and three baseball fields. There are large open fields suitable for soccer, frisbee and just relaxing. Also, a playground for children ages 2–12, and plenty of picnic and barbecue areas. Fred Baca Park, in a neighborhood off Salazar Road, boasts a five-acre wetlands area with a boardwalk along the Rio Fernando where you can sit and observe the wildlife and vegetation. Enjoy 17 pristine acres with a soccer field, tennis court, basketball court, picnic shelter, picnic tables, and playground, plus a half-mile closed loop path for walking, jogging or pushing a stroller.
