Itching to drive, chip and putt? Taos area courses can accommodate you. And then some! Be prepared for bunkers, water, sloping greens and very distracting views.
Angel Fire Resort Golf Course and Country Club, 22 miles east of Taos is open to public, with greens fees for 18 holes around $65 ($59 for Resort guests.) Wind through two unspoiled canyons of aspen and spruce on the front nine. A signature tee box soaring 200 vertical feet above the green— 250 yards away— awaits you on the 6th hole. Mountain meadow play with rolling fairways, meandering streams and plenty of bunkers to challenge every level of golfer greet you on the back nine. Open early May through late October. South of Taos in Ranchos de Taos is Taos Country Club which features spectacular desert scenery dotted with silver-green sagebrush and challenging arroyos, manicured greens, and panoramic mountain views. Designed by Jep Wille and measuring 7,302 yards from the back tees, this course will test the skills of the best golfers. Gently rolling terrain and four sets of tees make the course enjoyable for all players. A truly memorable golfing experience, the Taos Country Club layout received a four-star rating from Golf Digest. Go ahead, tee up. Weekday rates around $43; weekends, $48.
