Taos Rolls Out the Red Carpet for the 2nd Annual Taos Pride August 19 - 21

Inaugurated in 2010 by the talented and effervescent Gay Pride Taos founder Robert Quintana, who died unexpectedly a week before the first event, round two of this weekend long celebration promises to be even bigger and better.
The event's mission is “to create community events to celebrite diversity, increase awareness and provide a safe place to be yourself.”
“Taos has attracted people for centuries because of its incredible landscapes, culture and heritage, sense of personal freedom and diversity,” said Cathy Connelly, Town of Taos Director of Tourism & Public Affairs. “We are thrilled to have this event for a second year and celebrate all the unique expressions that make Taos – Taos.”
Start with a comedy showcase on Friday night, enjoy multiple performances under the gaze of Taos Mountain on Saturday and finish off with friends, new and old, at one of the hippest brunch spots in Taos on Sunday morning. Friday, August 19th – “Gay-LaLa” Vickie Shaw and Luca CorVatta headline a comedy show at the Taos Community Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 in advance or $20 at the door. Shadows Lounge hosts a post-show party at 9 p.m. where DJ Rockaway from San Francisco will be spinning into the early morning hours. Tickets for this party are $7 or free with a ticket stub from the comedy show.
Saturday, August 20th – “Pride in the Park” This free event welcomes all ages to join a one-of-a-kind celebration in Kit Carson Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This day’s fast moving activities include performances by professional drag kings and queens, musicians, vendors, food, and a beer garden. Finish the night at the “Gayest Drag Show Ever” at 8:30 p.m. where The Alley Cantina provides the venue for Professional Drag Kings and Queens from Colorado.
Afterward, DJ Rockaway will be spinning until 1 a.m. Tickets for the show and the dance party are $10 at the door. Sunday, August 21st – “Discovery/Recovery” After a weekend of partying, enjoy the Recovery Brunch at Shadows Lounge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
