taos celebrates halloween

When: Tuesday October 31st, 2017
Where: Taos Plaza and Historical District

ALL ages are invited to attend a FREE ART program inspired by Halloween and Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos). Come in costume and find the many skeletons in the Harwood Museum’s collection. Bring the whole family to enjoy this day filled with art making and other fun activities. Make a skeleton puppet or a shrine from a cigar box! This event is free!

Town of Taos, and merchants from Taos Plaza, Teresina Lane, John Dunn Shops and Bent Street, along with Big Brothers Big Sisters Mountain Region, Mystic Dance, Taos Farmers Market and Taos Milagro Rotary Club will be hosting this year’s Taos Halloween Community Celebration.
GAMES, PRIZES, HAUNTED HOUSE, TRUNK OR TREAT, TRICK OR TREAT
Children’s Halloween Party, 3pm to 6pm
Taos Plaza, Bent Street, John Dunn Shops and Teresina Lane
Teen Experience with DJ, halloween-26pm to 8pm – Taos Plaza Gazebo
Costume Prizes
Categories: Most Original, Funniest, Best Overall, Best Superhero, Best Recycled and Best Family Costume.
Costume Judging:
• For ages 2 and under at 3:30pm
• 3-5 year olds at 4:15pm
• 6-8 year olds at 5:00pm
• 9-12 year olds at 5:45pm.

There will be various carnival games with prizes. Merchants from Taos Plaza, Teresina Lane, John Dunn and Bent Street will be giving out candy to trick-or-treaters. Mystic Dance will have a tent transformed into a haunted house (for a small entry fee to raise money for Mystic Dance). Local businesses and organizations will provide decorated “trunks” full of treats for trick-or-treating.

Taos Plaza and Bent Street will be closed from 2:00pm to 8:00pm; however, the Taos Plaza Merchants and Bent Street Merchants will be open to foot traffic. FREE event parking will be available at our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Loretto Parking Lot, Town Hall and Taos Public Library. AFTER 5:00pm all metered parking lots will be free. For handicap parking and for people requiring ADA access to the event there will be extra parking at Guadalupe Parking Lot and the area next to the McCarthy Parking Lot directly behind the old County Courthouse.

Funky Sensations Halloween at Twirl 4:00-6:00pm in the Twirl Courtyard
