Taos is New Mexico True
Taos, NM

Between scaling steep ski slopes and jogging through aspen groves, mountain trail runs challenge participants with breath-stealing climbs and free-fall descents. But the challenges come with incredible rewards: running through pristine terrain while experiencing absolutely stunning views from lofty altitudes. The combination of the challenge, the jovial social scene, the camaraderie, and the raw, natural beauty only accessible by trails keep participants coming back for more.

If testing your endurance at high altitude is on your current agenda, the Up & Over 10K Trail Run in Taos Ski Valley should be at the top of your bucket list.

The Up & Over 10K Course

This mountain course tests runners physically and mentally while stimulating the senses and connecting runners with the energy of the magical Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The Up & Over 10K Trail Run in Taos Ski Valley is both a challenging and exquisitely scenic climb that culminates with breathtaking views of Kachina and Wheeler Peaks.

The heavy snow melt from winter’s runoff makes for glorious waterfalls among the rolling green hills and alpine groves of aspen and pine. Wildflowers are in full bloom, and wildlife is all around you. You’ll spot birds, bighorn sheep, marmots, and more along the trail, making for spectacular memories long after the Up & Over 10K Trail Run in Taos Ski Valley has been run.

All this may even distract you a bit from the total elevation gain of 2612 feet and the peak elevation of 11,812 feet.

Race Results and Rewards

Each participant of the Up & Over 10K Trail Run in Taos Ski Valley gets a handmade pottery medal made here in Arroyo Seco. Every year the medal is a different color, so if you come back year after year, you can collect all the colors over time. Each medal also happens to be a beer coaster, which you can use for your well-earned cold draft after the race!

The Up & Over after party and awards ceremony is always a fun celebration for the entire family, so bring everynone along and plan to spend a weekend in Taos. There are great deals on hotels, ski chalets, condos, and other lodging all through the summer. Be sure to get there early enough to join the Up & Over organizers and other participants the night before the race for race bag/swag pick-up and a healthy carb-loading meal.

While the runners are on the course, there is plenty for non-participants to do; from hiking, rafting, and horseback riding to visiting the dramatic Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, a day trip to the Town of Taos and the Pueblo are sure to be on your itinerary as you explore the area.

With the Up & Over 10K Trail Run in Taos Ski Valley, history, tradition, and sport combine with beautiful terrain, making this summer event one you’ll never forget or regret participating in, even as you struggle to catch your breath.
